Meizu has announced the Super mCharge technology, the fast charging technology at the Mobile World Congress 2017 event in Barcelona. Much better in numbers compared to the other fast charging technologies available currently, this is said to be so fast that a smartphone can be charged from zero to a hundred percent in just 20 minutes. The world’s fastest smartphone charging system can fully charge a 3000 mAh battery in that much amount of time. To add to it, the phone can charge up to 30% in just five minutes, 60% in 10 minutes, and about 85% in 15 minutes.
The charger used to achieve this charging speed is 11V/5A one and it boasts a 55W maximum power. In comparison, the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology uses an 18W charger and OPPO uses a 20W one in its VOOC charging. Meizu says that about a year of R&D was done to achieve these results and get the charger power of 55W.
The Super mCharge technology takes advantage of the Charge Pump Principle, which helps it in increasing the charging efficiency by 9%, taking it to 98% efficiency. This ensures a stable performance while charging.
When a phone is charging fast, usually it leads to some heating. Meizu claims that with the Super mCharge, the battery temperature tops at 39℃ (102.2℉) when the phone is charging at a room temperature of 22-degree. Again, in comparison to this, the Qualcomm Quick Charging took the temperature to 44℃.
A new data cable is being used to work with the new technology and it should be able to carry up to 160W of power. Commenting on the new Meizu Super mCharge, Li Tao, Supervisor of Meizu’s R&D team, said:
Innovation isn’t an easy job, but we believe that success comes from passion. We’ve overcome numerous difficulties and obstacles to create the best technology for all. Super mCharge is not only the fastest charging technology, but the safest one of all.
There is no information about any of the upcoming Meizu phones having this new battery or the technology of fast charging, but we hope there is something coming soon.
