Omate has just launched a GPS tracker, the Omate Wherecom S3. It is a 3G wearable GPS smartwatch for Senior powered by Android in collaboration with European Distributor ADMEA and mobile safety, security and LBS specialist Monitorlinq.
There was Omate Wherecom K3 earlier from the company, and its design is carried on to the S3, and the partnership is done with Monitorlinq to offer intelligent & advanced location and alert services to the Omate wearable tech platform.
On the feature side, the Wherecom S3 comes with a dialer, a message hub, an alarm reminder for users taking medication; a pedometer and a one-click SOS button which will push the GPS location of the wearer via WiFi or 3G to the connected contacts via an app.
The 1.54-inch color capacitive touchscreen has a 320 x 320 pixels screen resolution. The Omate Wherecom S3 comes powered by a 3G Dual-core 1Ghz ARM Cortex-A7 MediaTek MT6572M, and an ARM Mali-400 MP GPU along with 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage. The battery capacity is 600 mAh.
“Combined with services tailored to Mobile Network Operators, teleassistance and insurance companies, the Omate S3 is a unique wearable device which opens up the possibility of completely new family user experiences. Omate is a pioneer of the telecom standalone wearables and offers Tier 1 quality products at a competitive pricing. We are excited to offer the Omate S3 to our partners in France and Spain.” says Philippe Samuel, CEO of ADMEA Group.
“From fashion sport smartwatch like the Omate Rise, to child-friendly product like the recently released K3, and now this addition of a standalone smartwatch for seniors, Omate really does have something for everyone. A wristwatch is something many seniors have worn all their lives. ADMEA has deep knowledge of the senior segment through its existing product portfolio which makes it the ideal distribution partner for the Omate S3.” says Laurent Le Pen, CEO at Omate.
The battery can last for about two days on a single charge and for the location, it checks for GPS, 3G GSM cellular networks and Wi-Fi hotspots, for the accurate location tracking. A dedicated SOS button too is provided on the watch.
The Omate S3 will be available unlocked at a recommended retail price of 149 Euros in France and Spain from September through European retailers and e-tailers.
