Xiaomi’s teasers in the last few days included some hints about an upcoming large screen device, and that was the television upgrade. Xiaomi MiTV 3 is official, with a 60-inch display having 4K resolution.
At the thinnest point, the Mi TV 3 is 11.6mm thin and at the thickest, it is 36.7mm. The TV has a metal backplate, and on the side is a full aluminum plate with a diamond pattern. It is the LG’s 4K display that is used, with NTSC > 85% with MEMC motion compensation, thanks to 6M60 independent image processing chip reducing trails for motion pictures.
There is an independent speaker coming along with the TV, more like a sound bar that can be placed just under the display. These speakers have two dome tweeters, and four 2.5-inch subwoofers, with the frequency range of the speakers being 60 Hz to 22 KHz. It is the Dolby audio technology for audio output.
Coming to the connectivity, the MiTV 3 has three HDMI ports, two USB ports, a VGA port, ethernet port, and a modulator. Interestingly, not all this is seen on the TV, since they are all a part of the speaker which connects to the TV with a single wire. So, whatever is the wiring, has to be done with the speaker and not directly with the television.
The Mi TV 3 rocks a MStar 6A928 processor, along with 2GB DDR3 RAM, 8GB eMMC 5.0 flash storage, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.1 Low energy connectivity.
Now, let’s talk about the pricing. The Mi TV 3 is priced at RMB 4999, which comes to around Rs. 51000. Since the main board of the TV is capable of transforming into a smart TV, it is available as a separate accessory as well, priced at RMB 999. There is a sub-woofer unit, with a 6.5-inch height and full aluminum body, priced at RMB 599.
Xiaomi has also introduced the Bluetooth voice remote control, with Bose’s built-in six-axis sensor, and it has voice features and algorithms, and connecting with Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0. This remote is priced at RMB 99. Xiaomi’s investment on Ninebot a few months back, resulted in this – the Ninebot Mini self-balancing scooter.
