Reliance Jio 4G is the all things rage in the telecom industry nowadays. With the tricky ordeals to get a SIM / a device for themselves in the invitation based usage phase, it did manage to create some buzz in India and recently Jio’s network saw a customer base of around half a million people all over India which is only going to increase in number as the time passes.
The current CDMA operator from Reliance i.e. RCom is kickstarting their 4G services over Jio’s network starting next week in select circles like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, UP East and West, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.
As per the 4G data rates are concerned, RCom plans to provide data packs starting at Rs. 93 for 10 gigabytes to users who are upgrading to the service from their old CDMA connection. As far as the number of people transitioning to the upgraded network are concerned, about 90% of the 8 million RCom CDMA users have already opted for an upgrade and with data packs like these, you can expect these numbers to go much higher.
The new data plan is expected to create a situation in the market in which only the users will be profitable. The current data packs mostly start off at Rs. 250 for 1 GB data which is about 94% less than what RCom has to offer.
RCom is waiting for DoT’s approval to expand their services to six more circles which include Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Rajasthan.
