Reliance Jio, the latest network provider, has reached the 100 million subscriber count. In the span of 170 days, Jio was able to reach the target set by the company. Thanks to the free offer, in a month about 100 crore GB data was consumed by the users. While making this announcement, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, and MD of Reliance Industries said that to the special subscribers, i.e. the first 100 million, Jio will offer a Jio Prime offer.
Reliance Jio has started off their services with an introductory offer which offered unlimited 4G data and 4G LTE calls for users who took Jio SIM, later the company has extended it until March 31st under Happy New Year Offer. Today at the Press conference, Mr. Mukesh Ambani has officially Confirmed that the Jio’s Happy New Year offer is not getting extended unlike how a few rumors claimed it to extend through the end of June 2017, However domestic voice calls will remain free for a lifetime as promised earlier.
At the same press conference, the company has introduced the Jio Prime membership for new and existing users under which users get to enjoy unlimited 4G data and a wide suite of Jio apps like Music, TV, Movies, etc. for an extended period of 1 year, It will be active for those who enroll until March 31st, 2018. This Jio Prime membership is exclusive to the 10 Million initial Jio users and those who join the Jio family before 31st, March 2017. Users who wish to opt to Jio must enroll to Jio Prime subscription by paying Rs.99 on Jio’s official website before March 31st, 2017 post which the Prime subscription won’t be available.
Not to confuse the readers, the Rs. 99 charge is the enrolment fee for a year. Paying this will get you subscribed to the Jio Prime membership which includes unlimited 4G data, voice calls, access to Jio Apps, which will cost you Rs. 303 per month for next 12 months. Though the newly introduced Jio Prime subscription looks good on paper, the real challenge for Jio begins only after March 31st.
