Airtel India almost stunned us with its latest offer in a bid to compete against the Jio Welcome Offer where it is said to be offering the users 90-day free 4G data. While it seemed almost exactly like how the Jio Welcome Offer is, the offer has quite a few things that you need to keep in mind. It is being offered under the “4G Bonanza Offer”.
Firstly, the “free” doesn’t really mean free here as the user needs to do a recharge of Rs. 1495 to avail the offer. Once you do the recharge, you will get the Internet for 3 months.
Second, it is not unlimited. You will be able to use a total of 30GB data across three months, and once that limit is reached, you will see the speed dropping down to the 2G speeds of 64 kbps.
Now, you shouldn’t be expecting a completely free offer anyway because Reliance is offering only during its test period since the commercial launch of Jio hasn’t happened yet.
Even with those limitations, if we calculate the data for this offer, it is quite an affordable one if you are a heavy data user and need at least a few GB of mobile data every month. The data cost comes down to about Rs. 50 per GB, which is a lot lesser than the standard cost of Rs. 255 per GB for a period of 28 days on Airtel.
If you aren’t using more than a GB hardly, you should just ignore this offer, but if you feel that you are going to stay with Airtel for your primary number and are happy to spend for the data usage, the Rs. 1495 offer is a good one to go with.
Recently, the current biggest network provider in India also was offering 5GB free night data but that too asked the user to do a lot, including a few recharges and downloads.
Remove that “Free” from the title. Are you an idiot? You are paying Rs.1495 that is a huge amount, and “NOT FREE”
