LG Display has announced the world’s first 5.7-inches Quad HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio display and the company says that it has developed the new 18:9 aspect ratio display to provide immersive viewing experience. LG has considered the demand for larger size displays, Hence the new 18:9 Quad HD+LCD panel is also optimized for multi-tasking, using dual-screen functions.
However, LG didn’t release any image of the new display panel, like they usually do. The new 5.7-inch Quad HD+ panel has a resolution of 1,440×2,880 with 564 PPI which is higher than conventional Quad HD panels. Furthermore, the new display panel from LG promises to provide excellent touch responses with the company’s exclusive in-TOUCH technology which is here for a while now, and this also helps in achieving a thinner and much lighter smartphone due to the absence of Touch Cover Glass. It also comes with improved outdoor visibility by increasing the transmittance by 10% at the same time reducing power consumption by 30%.
The new LG display panel sans the cover glass is less than 1mm thick and has slim bezel width by 0.2mm (20%) on top, and by 0.54mm (10%) on the left and right sides when compared to the regular QHD LCDs. LG is said to use the new LCD panel in its next flagship; the LG G6 which is expected to arrive next month at the MWC 2017 event.
