Samsung has announced their latest device in the tablet category, the Galaxy Tab S2 which is going to be their flagship tablet device. The tablet will be available in two variants of 8-inch and 9.7-inch screen size. The specifications of the tablet were announced last month and the availability of the Tab S2 will be from September 3rd for the Wi-Fi only version.
Coming to the specifications of the two variants of the Galaxy Tab S2, it sports an 8-inch and 9.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 1536×2048 pixels resolution. the 8-inch display comes with pixel density of 320 PPI and the 9.7-inch display has 264 PPI. It is powered by a Exynos 5433 octa-core processor with four cores clocking at 1.9GHz and the remaining four cores clocking at 1.3GHz. It is paired with 3GB of RAM and comes in two variants of internal storage – 16GB and 32GB which can be further expanded with a microSD card up to 128GB.
Coming to the camera, the Galaxy S2 has a 8MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front facing camera. You can mirror your videos shot with the tablet directly onto your Samsung Smart TV, the tablet also acts as a remote control for your Samsung Smart TV. The The battery capacities of the both the variants are different, with the 9.7-inch display variant sporting a 5,870 mAh battery and the 8-inch variant coming with 4,000 mAh battery. Fingerprint sensor in included in the Home button in both the variants. The Galaxy Tab S2 runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop based on TouchWiz UI.
Coming to the design and dimensions the 8.0-inch variant measures 198.6×134.8×5.6mm and weighs in at 356 grams, the 9.7-inch variant weighs 237.3x169x5.6mm and weighs in at 389 grams. The tablet is just 5.6mm in thickness making it very sleek for the size of the device, especially the 9.7-inch variant making them the worlds thinnest tablets. On the connectivity aspect the tablet comes with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi 802. 11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and microUSB 2.0 port.
The Wi-Fi variant of Galaxy S2 tablet will be available from September 3rd, pre-orders have started and the pricing is set at $400 for the 8.0-inch tablet and the 9.7-inch tablet costs $500. The WiFi + cellular variant availability is not yet confirmed.
