Acer had revealed two new smartphones with Windows 10 mobile called Liquid M320 and M330 in this year’s IFA event, along with these Acer has showcased Liquid Jade Primo which they called as a PC phone. There is info about M330 but the Liquid Jade Primo was not much known.
Today in Philippines, Acer has announced the Liquid Jade Prime and revealed the specifications of the device along with its launch date. The Liquid Jade Prime will be available from December in Philippines and no update regarding its availability in other regions. The Liquid Jade Prime sports a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, the device comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage which is expandable up to 128GB using microSD card.
The smartphone sports 21MP rear camera with dual LED flash and a 8MP front-facing camera. Acer is calling it the pocket PC as it has partnered with Microsoft and the device comes with Windows 10 Continuum feature to allow seamless transition from mobile to desktop modes. It runs all the Windows 10 apps as well and is said to come with keyboard, mouse and docking station giving it the feel of a PC phone in terms of both the hardware and software. This was the first device to be announced with the Microsoft Continuum feature but it will not be the first device to be released as Microsoft’s Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL will be released in November.
The battery and other connectivity details are not yet revealed, the availability of the smartphone is from December and it is priced around 18,990 PHP in Philippines currency approximately $410. With the recent news about the sales of Microsoft running smartphones sales dropping by 54%, the company has to make sure that they are not totally wiped out from the smartphone segment. The availability of the smartphone in other regions like North America and Europe are not known as of now.
