Finally YU has fulfilled the wishes of many Yureka and Yureka Plus users by sending out the much awaited Cyanogen 12.1 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update. The Cyanogen OS 12.1 was launched almost two months back and with news about Cyanogen testing the OS in June, many users expected it to be rolled out much earlier but due to some bugs this delay is seen.
Rahul Sharma, Micromax founder announced the launch on twitter and Yu forum,
Gearing up for Diwali? We just got a cracker for you. After three beta builds and final positive feedback from testers, we are officially releasing the 12.1 update for all the YUREKA and YUREKA Plus users, he also said, We understand it took longer than usual but we wanted to put up something concrete and ensure its worth your wait. Apologies for a longer wait time.
The new update will be bringing a Redesigned Launcher wit app drawer and folder along with one handed use option. A Smarter Screen with LiveDisplay which adjusts the screen brightness according to environmental conditions. Refreshed AudioFX, more playback support and integrated Calendar with Email which lets you seamlessly share availability and schedule appointments.
He also mentioned that there will be superior performance and amazing thermal control to your Yureka and Yureka Plus, it might be a hint at the heating issue which was a worry for many users prior to the update which might be fixed with this.
The Cyanogen OS version – 12.1 based on Android OS version 5.1 is released with the Software version – YOG4PAS3JM. The update will be rolled out in phases as seen with all other updates. There is no update about the OS update to the other YU devices like the Yuphoria. You can update to the new OS by checking for the update manually, go to Settings > About phone > System update > Check Now. If you have received the update on your device you can automatically start the process by clicking Yes.
