LG G Vista, the mid-range device is surprisingly going to receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update very soon, and this is not for all the international units but only for the Verizon’s units. The phone was announced last year, and it was running Android 4.4 KitKat, and to much disappointment, LG was too slow in sending updates.
Without pushing any small or large updates before this, the LG G Vista is going to get Android 5.1.1 version, and there will be some major upgrades not just to design but also to features and bug fixes.
The software version of the update is VS88023A, and the list of changes include the following.
- Home touch button design updated to match the ones on Android Lollipop
- Recent button when long pressed, would open menu
- Options for setting up notifications on lock screen
- Smart Lock setting is now available under Lock screen settings
- Options to add trusted devices to the Smart lock setting
- When “Show all notifications” is set, tapping “More” section or swiping down the notification cards will expand the notification list
- If “Hide sensitive only” is set, user has to first unlock to see the whole list of notification
- Interruptions feature allows you to determine what notifications and alarms your device will sound or display
- Ongoing notifications will be displayed when Priority only or No interruptions mode is selected.
- Tapping this notification shall bring you to the interruptions settings screen.
- Floating action button is added for the main app to promote the key action such as adding or composing new item
- Screen Pinning allows you to lock the device to a single app
- Settings are now searchable
- Added ‘Avoid bad Wi-Fi connections’ in Advanced Wi-Fi options
- Bug fixes and security patches
This will be an OTA update, so you will just have to wait for the software update notification to pop up on your device, or will have to manually check for the update by going to Settings > About.
