Samsung is rolling out OS update for Galaxy Note 5 after recent complaints by users of both the single SIM and dual SIM variants of having problems like decreased call quality. The new update is said to be a minor one which will be improving the battery life as well along with some security fixes. The update seems to be restricted to South East Asia regions like Singapore and Malaysia for the moment.
With both the Single SIM (N920I) variant and Dual SIM (N9208) variant receiving the update the file size of the Single Sim variant being 144.28MB and the dual sim variant file size being 185.18MB has been seen in devices from Singapore and Malaysia belonging to the South East Asia region with build number LMY47X.N920IDVU2AOJ4. Samsung has not yet released the change log but there seem to be multiple security fixes along with the major upgrade in battery life and improving call stability.
There seems to be some performance updates as well which are slightly noticeable but the exact nature of these updates is not yet clear. Samsung has provided two major fixes which are actually useful to the user. The Galaxy Note 5 which was launched in August earlier this year comes with a 5.7-inch super AMOLED display having impressive 518ppi and powered by Exynos 7420 Octa core processor and 4GB of RAM. The camera is also a decent set up with a 16MP rear camera with OIS and 1/2.6′ sensor size,= and 1.12 µm pixel size. The device was launched with the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update and Samsung might be sending the latest Marshmallow Android OS to the Note 5.
The update will be sent in batches as always and do keep checking your software update section to check if you have received the update. In case you are from any place other than South East Asia keep checking this space for more updates.
