Samsung has started rolling out the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy Note 4 smartphone in India. The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for Galaxy Note 4 model number SM-N910G is available as an OTA update with a size of 1.4GB and comes with Android security updates for February.
The update is being released in batches and it might take some time for your device to receive the update. The Galaxy Note 4 gets the update after the company rolled out the update to devices like Galaxy S6 and Note 5 recently. The first worldwide update to the Galaxy note 4 was rolled out on March 24th and Indian users are receiving the update starting today.
The Note 4 has started its OS journey with the Android 4.4 Kitkat when it was first launched way back in October 2014 and since then has been receiving regular updates and updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop in April last year and now has received the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update this year.
With the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update users get the new Air Command menu which we have seen in the Galaxy S6 and Note 5 after the update. New Touchwiz makes its way to Note 4. It comes with Quick Connect which helps in easily finding and connecting to nearby devices. New Vibration pattern concept is available in the device. Advanced power saving mode extends battery life by restricting background data. The older version of the Samsung Gear and Gear Fit App is facing problems after the update and need to be installed again to fix it. Google Now on Tap feature has also been included.
The Note 4 with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Processor will start getting the pop up for the OTA update and with a 1.4GB file size you have to make sure that you have sufficient battery life and good WiFi connectivity to get you through the update. Make sure to back up all the data before going through with the update, just in case something goes wrong.
