OnePlus has finally started rolling out the Android 9.0 Pie based Oxygen OS 9.0 to OnePlus 6‘s today. The update will be sent out over-the-air in batches to devices. The company will push the update to even more devices if the early users do not report any errors or bugs in it.
The OnePlus 6T which is expected to launch on October 17, is said to ship with the latest Oxygen OS 9.0 out of the box. The Oxygen OS 9.0 brings in several improvements to UI and UX such as Android Pie gesture navigation. The update also includes Adaptive Battery support, which was introduced in Android Pie, that intelligently detects and learns from your usage patterns of apps and prevents the battery from draining.
Oxygen OS has had gaming mode for quite a while, which has now been updated as well. The new Gaming Mode 3.0 will show notifications for text messages as well as 3rd party calls. The update is also said to bring the September 2018 Android security patch. The update is 1.52 GB in size including the Security patch.
OnePlus has also announced that the upcoming Oxygen OS versions will correspond with their respective Android Version number, starting with Android Pie. As the update is being sent out randomly to users and is not region specific, using a VPN to download the OS wouldn’t be helpful.
