Huawei just announced the list of devices that will be getting the Android Oreo update from the company and the list includes some of the recent phones and even the Honor 8, which was initially said to be not supporting the update. Although the Honor 8 doesn’t support the new version of EMUI, the smartphone has been included in the list of smartphones that will be receiving the latest update. This was after the company reversed their initial decision of not providing the Android Oreo update to the Honor 8, this was possible by porting the EMUI 8 skin to the Honor 8.
The statement from the Honor Spokesperson to Android Police team gave the assurance that EMUI 8 would be coming to the Honor 8, however, it is still unclear whether that company would be sending the Android Update to the Honor 8 or if the company will port the essential features of Oreo and give it via the EMUI 8 update.

The further details on the update is expected in a week’s time and that is when we get a better idea on the route that the company is planning to with and whether the Android Oreo update would be made available on the Honor 8 or if it would be skipped and just the highlighted features would be ported to the EMUI 8 based on a previous version of Android.
The Honor 8 was launched in October 2016 and came with Android Marshmallow 6.0 based on EMUI 4.1 and it received the Android 7 update via the EMUI 5.0 OS in February last year. The device has a 5.2” inch FullHD display and comes with the Kirin 950 processor along with 3GB or 4GB RAM based on the variant. The camera on the device is a 12MP + 8MP Setup with dual-tone LED flash.
