List of Nexus Phones and Flagships to get Android Nougat Update

Android Nougat, i.e. the 7.0 version of the Android operating system is finally here and rolling out to the first set of devices, i.e. the Nexus smartphones. We are sure that the users of flagship smartphones from various brands would be wondering whether their device will get this major OS update, and if yes, when would that happen.

If you had a Nexus, you didn’t have to think a lot about it. Nexus devices are the first to receive an OS update, but this time, Google isn’t being so generous and one of the favorite Nexus phones of all time will not get the update. So, which are the ones getting it and the ones ignored by Google, let’s find that in the list below.

  • Motorola Nexus 6
  • Huawei Nexus 6P
  • LG Nexus 5X

When it comes to phones, these are the only three Nexus smartphones getting the update. Talking of tablets, only the Nexus 9 will be updated to Nougat version.

So, this makes it clear that the Nexus 5 won’t be getting the update. The Nexus 7 2013 tablet won’t be getting it either. The Android Marshmallow OS marks as the last major OS on these devices. It is worth noting that you can still see the Android 7.0 OS through one of the custom ROMs in a few weeks.

Other flagships that would get Android 7.0 Nougat Update

We won’t break these down into different brands for now because not each of them have officially confirmed the rollout plan, but then, we are listing out things based on how they’ve been in the past.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note7
  • Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
  • Samsung Galaxy S7
  • Samsung Galaxy S6
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 5
  • LG G5
  • LG G4
  • Moto Z
  • Moto X Play
  • Moto X Style
  • HTC 10
  • HTC One A9
  • HTC One M9
  • Huawei P9
  • OnePlus 3
  • ZTE Axon 7

The above list could change with time and how we wish that it just gets bigger, but to be frank, unlike how iOS functions, the hardware and software combinations on Android are much different and that’s the reason you see disappointment all around when you expect the OS update on your device but don’t see it.
