We have heard about the weird issue that the Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus smartphones suddenly shutting down making the users plug in it to bring them back to life. Though reports don’t point out to a particular cause for this issues, it is apparently because of the sudden spikes in activity in the old batteries of iPhone 6 and 6S that is causing this unexpected shutdown. Apple has offered to replace potentially malfunctioning batteries, but it looks like the latest iOS 10 update seems to fixed the issue to a certain extent.
The report coming in from TechCrunch states that the iOS 10.2.1 update which was rolled out in late January has led 80% reduction in unexpected shutdowns of iPhone 6S and 70% of iPhone 6. This very reason is why the newer batteries on iPhone 7 devices were not affected. The update along brings in a feature which will notify you in case your iPhone battery needs to be replaced. You will receive a notification in your settings that will prompt you to take the device to the service center.
50% of the iPhone 6 and 6S users have already updated their iPhones, and if you’re one among the people who haven’t yet updated, this is a good time to do it.
