There are just few devices running on Android Marshmallow post its release, apparently the number is just 0.3% as said by Google. There are going to be some more devices added to the list to improve the number from HTC. The HTC One M8 Google Play Edition was due for an update last week. HTC VP Mo Versi on Twitter mentioned what the Marshmallow update for the HTC One M8 GPE has been slightly delayed and a re-spin SW is required.
There has been no update from him further, but as seen on an update by a user on XDA forum, the rollout has started and the user shared the download from Google’s server of Marshmallow for M8 GPE. The update is sized 472MB and comes with all the impressive features which marshmallow carries with it. We earlier mentioned the list of HTC devices to get Android Marshmallow devices.
The HTC One M8 GPE is going to be one of the first devices to be getting the update after the Nexus devices. With the One M8 GPE being released almost an year and a half back the regular updates to this device from both HTC and Google is encouraging. No other company might be giving their old devices the Android 6 Marshmallow update so fast earlier than most flagships. As we all know we can see all the new inclusions like the App permission settings, improved Google Now tweaked app drawer interface and the most important Doze feature which improves battery life.
In case you are an owner of the One M8 GPE then go to the settings in your device -> go to About and then System Update, if you have received the update well and good. In case you are not getting the OTA update then you can download and manually install it as done in any installation. The Official Android 6 Marshmallow file should be downloaded from Google manually and installed on your HTC One M8 GPE.
