The Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS was just announced, and in a few days, it is going to be rolled out to the Nexus smartphones. As usual, it might take some time for the manufacturers to prepare the update for their smartphones and roll them out.
One of the brands that has already given a list of devices that will get the Marshmallow update, is HTC. Although the list doesn’t look big, it is appreciated that HTC is at least letting the users know already if they are lucky ones to own a device that will receive the latest OS update.
While we know which devices are going to get the update, there is no time frame provided. We at least hope that the flagships get the update sooner than the other phones. The flagships from HTC that will receive the Marshmallow update, include HTC One M9, One M8 and the One M9+.
- HTC One M9+
- HTC One M9
- HTC One M8
- HTC One E9+
- HTC One E9
- HTC One ME
- HTC One E8
- HTC One M8 EYE
- HTC Butterfly 3
- HTC Desire 826
- HTC Desire 820
- HTC Desire 816
In the mid-range, i.e. the Desire 800 series, the phones that will receive the update, include the Desire 816, Desire 820 and Desire 826. It is said that the list will get bigger later, but we hope that at least the listed phones here get the update before the end of first quarter of 2016.
Since the list doesn’t show One M7, you might be running the Lollipop OS as the last major Android version in the device. HTC is also going to be the first brand to launch a device running Android Marshmallow, after the Nexus devices (the Nexus 5X and 6P), and the company has scheduled an event for the same, dated October 20th.
We’ll update the list with any other phone, if the company plans to send update to that in the coming months.
