Apple has released the iOS 10.2 Beta with new enhancements like new emojis, Camera features and more. The new Beta version will be available to all the registered developers; and the company had recently released the iOS 10.1.1 for all iOS users whose device is eligible to run the latest version.
The iOS 10.2 Beta for all will be released once the company takes the feedback from developers who have installed the update. Let’s check out the new enhancements and features that iOS 10.2 Beta brings.
New Emoji’s: With 10.2 Beta release, Apple has added complete support for Unicode 9.0 which will extend the new set of images like Fireman, astronauts, judges, rockstars, croissant and much more. Users who have installed the iOS 10.2 can include these in their messages, Moreover the existing emoji set has got an overhaul as they now look a lot crisp and clean.
New Wallpapers: The iOS 10.2 beta updates bring three new wallpapers which are a part of the iPhone 7 promotional images. These three wallpapers are based on the original iMac candy shell colors. You can access them from the wallpaper settings.
Preserve Camera Settings: Prior to the iOS 10.2 update, Apple never saved your camera preferences once you exit the camera application. Now with the iOS 10.2 Beta, Apple has finally added the Preserve Camera setting option you can preserve the last used Camera Mode, Photo Filter, Live Photo setting in the stock Camera app.
New Video Widget: The new video widget is added to the notification center. This video widget works just the way music widget works. It quickly allows you to resume the content if you left them in the middle.
Hide Contact Image in Conversations: You can hide the contact image from the Contact Photos setting in system settings. This feature will hide the picture that used to appear on top of the Message app conversation threads.
Home Button Accessibility Setting: This setting will allow users to take control of the home button. You have total three options in the home button “Press and Hold to speak button” wherein you press and hold to provoke Siri or voice control, or you can totally disable press and hold Home button response. If we are to guess, Apple might soon make Siri a hands-free control by disabling the press and hold button, but for now, if you chose off from the settings it will disable Siri altogether.
New Siri Welcome Screen: With iOS 10.2 beta update, Apple has added a brand new welcome/splash screen once you enable siri from the disabling state.
Music App: Music app has got a lot of new updates, now you can star rate the songs in your playlist. Head over to Music app preferences in the Settings and enable the Star rating switch. Once you have enabled just a 3D touch on track will display the option to rate it. Earlier you had the option to sort music from system settings, but with iOS 10.2 you can do that in the music app itself. Another biggest addition is that you can sort playlists by Type, Title, recently added.
Quick Reply is Saved: Before the iOS 10.2 update if you have opened the messaging app in the midst of responding to a conversation all your typed text will be lost. Now with iOS 10.2 update, the text is carried over to the full Messages app. Small yet most welcomed addition.
If at all you’re a developer, you can head over to Apple’s developer’s website and download the update and install it. If you’re not a developer, you can always sign up for public beta and try it. Hope this helped.
