The wait for the upcoming Android version has been quite long. Even though it is available for Beta testing for Nexus users, the final name was still not decided up until now. Google has finally announced the name for the upcoming Android version and drumrolls please, it’s Android Nougat.
Google had a public poll this year to ask people for their suggestions on naming their 12th version of the mobile operating system that powers billions of smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, cars and even TVs. Google announced the name at their campus in Mountain View, California by erecting a new Android statue in their Android statute garden where they have statutes of other Android versions as well.

The name i.e. Nougat followed Android’s good old dessert based naming norms of Android where new versions of Android are named upon some sweet eatable or a dessert.
Nougat is a speed that is made up of sugar, honey, dry fruits and nuts and egg whites. People around the world eat it as a sweet or as a dessert. Even though the name has been finalized, we still do not know what the Android version number will be for Android Nougat. The news is still fresh and we will update you if we get new things to report.
Do you really like the name? Wouldn’t Nutella make it easier for everyone to understand? But then, Nougat too is used as an ingredient in some very good chocolates, and even if it isn’t, why would our questioning affect Google’s decision making? 😉
