The CyanogenMod community has been actively working to bring out the CM updates to the smartphones, and keep these updates based on the latest Android version. The latest one is Android 7.1 Nougat and the community has announced the CyanogenMod 14.1 Nightly Build based on this version.
For now, this update will be sent to a few select devices and later, more devices will be added to the list. The following is the list of devices for which the nightly build of CM 14.1 is being made available.
- Huawei Nexus 6P
- LG Nexus 5X
- Xiaomi Mi 3
- Xiaomi Mi 4
- LG G3
- Moto G4 Plus
- Moto G4
- Moto G 3rd Gen
- Moto G2
- Moto G 4G
- LG G4
- Samsung Galaxy S5
- OnePlus 3
- ASUS ZenFone 2
Note: If you are new to this, nightly build is not a stable version but only something that has bugs and users who are okay with this and want to help the community with reporting of these bugs can try it out before the public release is done later.
The founder of Cyanogen, Steve Kondik said “Bug reports are OK, but please don’t file bugs for missing features since this is all a work in progress. Now is a great time to get involved with the project too- CM is returning to its community-driven roots and there are endless ways to help out. As always, more devices will be added to the list over the coming weeks and maintainers bring everything up to date, so if you don’t see your device listed here just give us a bit of time.”
Not every feature of Android Nougat is included here and according to Steve, the future updates of CM will carry more features. You can install the CyanogenMod 14.1 nightly build manually to test it out but have to make sure you install the future versions too if you want to enjoy the actual features that are being tested right now.
