Lenovo is stepping up the game by announcing the road map for Android 6.0 Marshmallow roll outs for its smartphones. Lenovo has released an official document called Android Upgrade Matrix on their official website. The upgrade is said to be through Over-the-Air (OTA), there is a mention for the upgrade which is said to be applicable for models sold by retailers and not for operators customized or contract models.
After the official launch of Android 6.0 Marshmallow in May 2015 at the Google I/O event, the first release for Nexus smartphones and Android One devices was done last month and devices like LG G4 and HTC One M8 GPE have started getting the Android Marshmallow update. Along with Smartphone the Yoga Tablet series is also going to get the upgrade with the expected dates announced by Lenovo. Most of the smartphones or tablets mentioned to receive the upgrade run on Android Lollipop 5.0.
Some of the popular smartphones by Lenovo which are getting the upgrade are Lenovo A 7000 and A 7000 Plus which are expected to receive the update by September, 2016. The recently launched Lenovo Vibe S1 and Lenovo Vibe P1 will also be receiving the update by June, 2016. The other device which will be getting by September, 2016 is the K3 Note which is the best selling smartphone in India for the Q3 2015.
With the Android 6.0 Lollipop is on 0.3% of all Android devices, the version of Android which is most is the Kitkat 4.4 at 37.8% followed by Jelly Bean and then Android Lollipop as per the number of smartphones equipped with the OS. Many other companies like HTC, Sony, Motorola and Honor have also released the list of devices which will be getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. With Google trying to revamp Android One devices in India we have to wait and see if they will be released with Android 6.0 Marshmallow directly with some better specifications thanks to the better hardware options being made available to manufacturers.
