Blocking numbers is a feature which every smartphone user requires in these days with telemarketers and stalkers growing in number. With Android N blocking numbers has become accepted across the platform and not just restricted to the Phone dialer app alone. To use the call blocking feature in other apps apart from system apps in Android N, certain apps can view the list of blocked numbers.
This will make it a single step procedure and you will not have to block the number on each app separately. From what we have observed, only certain apps are able to recognise the blocked numbers apart from the default dialer, the SMS app and certain apps from your carrier.
It is also said that service providers will be able to access the list of blocked numbers and provide service-side blocking on other devices. The Blocked numbers list can be accessed even after reset and also be transferred to other devices by backing up the data similar to other data on your device. It will be transferred to your new device like all the other data is done.
In Earlier Marshmallow OS we could block numbers from calling but they could leave SMS and voice notes and the blocking list was not accessible across other apps. But with Android N the blocking has advanced and now the numbers will be blocked by your default SMs app and also certain apps. Although voicemails cannot be blocked yet which is not a problem as most spam callers do not go to the extent of sending voice mails. It is a great little feature which will be useful in everyday life for all Android users.
