Do Not Disturb mode is a way to keep the phone active while not allowing all the notifications to disturb you, and to take it further, allow you to set the type of notifications to show up and a certain type to just arrive but not disturb you. There are a few smartphones that have the inbuilt Do Not Disturb mode, and one of them is the Xiaomi smartphones with the MIUI ROM.
At times, you could have only an option to enter Flight mode if you didn’t want any notifications, but now, not every notification is the same, and there might be some that you might be expecting at any time and don’t want to get rid of them.
How does Do Not Disturb mode work?
This mode will deactivate all the notifications, but these are selective, and you can choose from one the options mentioned below.
- Always allow disturbances: This will allow notifications to show up and ring your device with the notification tone
- Only allow exceptions: This is a selective mode where you can allow some exceptions to ring your device when a notification arrives. Here, you can choose from Media, Alarms, Vibrations, and Notification light to be allowed when a notification arrives.
- Silence all disturbances: This is the main part of the DND mode. There are a few things that you can set up under this, and you’ll learn that below.
How to set up DND mode on Redmi Note 3?
The DND mode can be entered or activated by going to Settings > Do Not Disturb and choosing one of the three options that we mentioned above. The most suggested one in three is the “Silence all disturbances” part, otherwise, it is not much of a Do-not-disturb thing.
In the Silent All Disturbances, you can set it to get activated every day repeatedly without having to do it manually every day. The timing can be set and you can set it to run on particular days, weekdays, or every day.
DND with Mi Band: This is an excellent feature if you are using a Mi Band for step counting and sleep tracking. Without you having to activate the DND mode, you can set it to turn on automatically whenever the Mi Band tracks that you are inactive for over an hour.
Priority Interruptions
- Sounds can be activated only for Calls, Events and reminders, and Messages.
- Calls will be allowed from either Anyone, Starred contacts, Contacts only, or from an exception list.
- Repeated calls: Yet another useful feature, where if someone is calling you for a second time within three minutes, the phone would ring only then, indicating that it might be something important because of repeated calls.
While there might be some confusion for the Redmi Note 3 users to set up the Do Not Disturb mode, but once you done with it, you will realize how useful this feature is and how well has Xiaomi done to include so much in this little feature that could change the way your phone acts when you are asleep and don’t want everything to disturb you.
