These days, your kids getting access to your phone is not uncommon. While you might feel like restricting them to apps like YouTube Kids where only the relevant content to kids is shown, every kid out there is enthusiastic to see what all can they do. It might, sometimes, make you compromise your personal or business data in the smartphone.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a Child mode specifically for that reason, where you can restrict the access of content when your child is using the phone. The Child Mode not just restricts the usage of apps, but also stops them from sending messages without your permission.
How does Child mode on Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 work?
When the child mode is active, you will be able to give your child only the apps you wanted them to be able to access. Under the settings, you can choose which are the apps you wanted to be accessible. There’s also an option to Lock SMS, where it won’t allow the installed apps to send SMS when the device is in Child mode.
How to setup and turn ON the child mode?
The Child mode can be turned On by going to Settings > Child mode, and here, once you turn the mode ON, you will be able to select the apps which can be accessed by your child.
It is so restricted that there will be no home screen to go to, and when the home button is pressed, it will show only the available apps that you had chosen.
For this to work, you should setup a password, or you should already have the Fingerprint sensor security turned ON, because if you wanted to exit the Child mode, you might want to get back to Settings and here, the device will ask you to enter password or scan your fingerprint.
Any problems with Child mode?
Since we are talking about Child Mode in specific, let us talk about one issue addressing the same mode. Some users had reported that they were not able to exit the Child mode because they were not getting to that screen where the Child mode can be activated or deactivated.
For this, be cautious and take a step before you actually get into Child mode for the first time.
Have one of the browsers accessible in the child mode. Why? because if you cannot get back to Normal mode, here’s what you can do – Turn on Airplane mode after long pressing the power button, and then go to one of the browsers and access a website, which expectedly, won’t open. Just below the error message you will see a direct shortcut to network settings, and from there, the normal settings can be accessed. Not an official workaround but still, something that works at the time of crisis.
Let us know if you are facing any other issue while trying to get into the Child mode or while going back to the normal one.
