Own a Moto G5 Plus and looking to root and go into the development stuff? Well, all thanks to the “drtechie”, a member of XDA forum who made a toolkit to root and install TWRP recovery on the Moto G5 Plus wth just one click. We all know the difficulties in finding methods to root, unlock bootloader, and installing custom recoveries. This toolkit helps you unlock the bootloader, root the phone, and install TWRP recovery just by clicking a button.
Remember that this toolkit is only for the Moto G5 Plus and not for any Moto phones out there. You might brick your phone if you try it with any other phones. So, only use this toolkit if you have a Moto G5 Plus.
Before we start off with the guide, we are not responsible if your phone runs into any problem so, make sure to perform this only at your own risk. We’ll try our best to help you out if you have any queries regarding the issues but we can’t promise you that it’ll work out.
Read the below steps orderly and make sure you perform them stepwise. Let’s have a look at the features of this toolkit first:
- Compatible with Windows, iOS, and Linux
- No need of installing ADB and Fastboot binaries
- Flash SuperSU
- Flash TWRP Recovery
- Commonly used ADB and Fastboot commands
- Bundled drivers for Windows
- Create and Restore backups with button clicks

Now after downloading, extracting the zip file, installing, you’ll find in the toolkit itself.
First off, you will have to enable developer options on your phone and make sure OEM unlocking and USB debugging are turned on. To turn on the developer options, you have to tap on build number in the about phone section several times to enable the developer options. Now, connect your phone to your PC via Micro USB cable and see if the toolkit detects your device.
Now, make sure you take a whole backup of your G5 Plus because you are gonna lose all your data on the phone. After the toolkit detects your phone, start by going to the Bootloader section, ‘Get unlock data’ and click on ‘Extract unlock data’. After that, proceed to ‘Unlock Bootloader’ and click it to unlock your bootloader.
Now, go to ‘Flashing & Recovery’ section and perform the actions one by one. The first one installs TWRP recovery, the second one flashes the ‘boot_image’, and the third one ‘wlan_custom’ to flash Wi-Fi patch. And finally, after the above three are done, flash SuperSu and you are good to go!
Now, you can install Roor Checker app and confirm if it was successfully rooted or not. That’s it and feel free to comment down below if you have any queries or issues regarding this. We’ll try our best to help you out.
