Most of us have a habit of using our smartphones at night. It has become a habit because most of us find less time during the day when we are indulged in our work, and that is quite understandable, isn’t it? But then, is using the smartphone at night the right thing to do?
There is no big harm except when we use the phone with the lights in the room turned off. In dark conditions, you see the colors of the phone screen quite clearly and that is a problem because the blue light that comes out of the screen of the phone puts serious effects on the brain and eyes.

To tackle this and help the users, smartphone manufacturers have been offering some good options like filtering out of blue light. Apple too has joined that and now iOS 10 offers a mode called Night Shift. It is a mode that changes the way colors come out of the screen.
According to Apple, Night Shift automatically shifts the colors of your display to the warmer end of the color spectrum after dark. This may help you get a better night’s sleep.
Activate Night Shift Mode on iPhone
Going to Settings > Display & Brightness will give you the option of Night Shift and the settings for the same. There is a toggle to turn it on, and if you don’t want to manually do that every time, a Scheduler can be set to keep the Night Shift active every night for a set time frame.
Changing the color temperature
Another good thing about the Night Shift mode on iOS 10 mode is that you can have a Color temperature level based on your comfort. Some are comfortable with little blue light while some prefer to see it completely without blue light in the dark, and thus there is a drag option on the same setting page if you want to set the color temperature manually.
So, that is a feature that is more useful than you are assuming it to be. Blue light from smartphone displays interfere with your sleep, so it is better to take advantage of this feature that is available on the iOS 10 platform for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
Night Shift in Control Center
Thankfully, to make it easier, Apple has provided a direct toggle in the Control Center of iOS 10, where you just have to toggle it on / off after you have set it up under Settings.
