CREO, a consumer technology startup company who are the makers of Teewe, a media streaming stick have posted a video on their social media feeds revealing the Mark 1 smart phone with a rather interesting tag line which has got everyone’s attention “A new phone, every month”. The Mark 1 from the images carries the design of a regular smart phone. CREO is planning to manufacture and develop an Android based Operating system, with the recent round of funding which has raised $3-million from Sequoia capital, Beenext and India quotient.
What does the tag line “A new phone, every month” really mean?
The tagline initially confuses you into thinking that the company will be releasing a new phone every month, but CREO is adapting to a new module of releasing a new feature for their smart phones every month through OS updates. The features will be focused on deep Android OS level features which cannot be replicated by an App.
The tag really means a new feature will be released every month making you smart phone function like new with latest features available every month which is a pretty unique concept.
Sai Srinivas, Co-Founder of CREO, said, “We at Creo put users at the center of our monthly update model. These updates will bring powerful OS level features which are not present on Android currently.” He added “These feature updates will be based on suggestions and feedback that we get from our community. It’s a first of its kind, truly community-inclusive update system. We’ll collate all feature requests from our users and plan out releases basis feasibility, while ensuring that one breakthrough feature is released every month.” Via Gadgets 360.
The regular monthly updates will be with features based on deep Android OS levels and these features cannot be replicated by any App, this makes the updates really interesting. The features will be based on app discovery, security, calling etc. These regular updates will help the smartphone to constantly evolve and will be updated based on suggestions and feedback from their community.
The company plans to license their OS to other OEMs as well in India and worldwide to be used on their smart phones. The Creo Mark 1 smart phone will be launched based on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 this year. CREO was earlier called as Mango Man Consumer Electronics, Creo’s first product was the Teewe, a HDMI media streaming device launched in September 2014 followed by the Teewe 2 in May 2015 which was quite successful with over 50,000 units sold across India.
