ZTE has officially announced its next mid-range device, successor to the Blade S6, as the ZTE Blade S7 is now official with a focus on cameras and build quality. It can be more called as a premium mid-range device, since there are no compromises on the spec side as well.
While the Blade S6 had a plastic body, the Blade S7 boasts an aluminum frame on the side, and the front and back of the phone have a glass coating with 2.5D Gorilla glass. The company has kept the display size at 5-inches and increased the resolution to full HD at 1920 x 1080 pixels having a screen ratio of 72.1% and 445 ppi.
One of the major upgrades from the previous model is the inclusion of a fingerprint sensor in the home button on the front of the device below the display. The sensor is square in shape and comes with locking and unlocking feature along with controls access to encrypted files and lets your create shortcuts to several apps. the shape and position of the sensor is what is a bit unconventional, most sensors are placed on the back where the index finger rests for easy one handed unlock and use even in budget smartphones like the Coolpad Note 3.
The ZTE Blade S7 is powered by a Snapdragon 615 processor which adds it to the huge list of mid-range smartphones sporting the same SoC. It is supported by 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. We can call the ZTE blade S7 a camera / selfie-oriented smartphone due to the presence of 13MP front and rear cameras, having phase detection autofocus and dedicated flash for front and rear along with 14 beautifications options, making it the perfect option for selfie obsessed users. It is runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based UI which resembles a lot like iOS and comes with gesture controls using ZTE boasts Magic Gestures.
The ZTE Blade S7 will be first up for sale in Thailand and followed by other Asian countries, availability in other regions around the world is not clear. The device comes in four colors Lemon Green, Rose Gold, Diamond White and Space Gray. It is priced around $280 according to Chinese retail websites which have listed the device for pre-order, official pricing has not been revealed by the company.
It surely seems to be a great device with some more than decent specs for a mid-range smartphone at this price range. Having a fingerprint sensor, 13MP front facing camera and Snapdragon 615 SoC with 3GB RAM will heat up the mid range smartphone segment competition.
