Many popular Chinese Smartphone manufacturers like ZTE, Xiaomi, Meizu etc., have been trying to gain some popularity for their Android Smartphones in the US markets, for some time now. To raise the bar of competition within the US markets, they have been regularly announcing new devices specially targeting the US Smartphone market. One such Android Smartphone is the ZTE Axon, which was announced in a special press event held in NYC today. And according to ZTE, their Axon Smartphone has got all the requirements to be the next Smartphone choice of US Smartphone buyers.
The hardware specifications of the ZTE Axon is quite interesting as well. The ZTE Axon has a 5.5 inch 2K quad HD display with a screen resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, which gives the display a PPI of 534, and the display also has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2 GHz and 4 GB of RAM. The device also has a 3,000 mAh battery, which gives it much hope in the battery backup department. The device also runs on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software. The Axon will also be compatible with LTE networks from both AT&T and T-Mobile.
Well, with the Axom, ZTE is also following the recent trend of having a duo-camera setup for the rear camera, which at least on paper, should give better bokeh-like effects to the photos you take. The rear camera combo is of 13 MP+2 MP and there is also a front facing webcam of 8 MP as well.
Like most other Chinese Smartphone manufacturers out there, ZTE phones were often regarded to as cheap and plasticky. And with the Axon, they are exactly trying to remove that tag off from their Smartphones by bringing in features that the customers will prefer.
For beginners, the built of the ZTE Axon no longer feels plasticky, thanks to the metal finishes present in the Smartphone. The looks and heft of this Smartphone also gives it a pretty expensive look. The Axon comes in three different color options: Silver, Gold and Blue.
And moreover, to attract even more customers, the company also offers a two year warranty for the Smartphone, which is pretty interesting. The company also claims that providing its main aim is to provide the latest Android software updates as earliest as possible to the users, which points to the ZTE Axon owners receiving future Android updates as well.
The unlocked ZTE Axon Android Smartphone will cost you at $449, which is still a very sweet deal for the hardware, software and built you get out of this device. Moreover, the 2 year warranty period of the ZTE Axon, makes it quite a bet.
Are you already using the ZTE Axon? Then please do share your feedback on the Smartphone as comments below to help other buyers!
I have been trying to get my wife to urgapde her HTC Hero let us know what you settle on, especially the battery life. I played with the Nexus S at Best buy the other day and was impressed with how zippy the Gingerbread OS ran (2.3). Either phone seems pretty cool, will come down to your preferences.
