Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro
Display
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro sports a new 6.26-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels. The new resolution is due to the notched 19:9 screen that we have come to see in other xiaomi devices such as the Redmi 6 Pro and the flagship Mi 8 as well. The display has a 86% screen-to-body ratio with a maximum brightness of 500 nits that comes protected under Corning’s Gorilla Glass.
SOC & Software
Powering the Note 6 Pro is the same Snapdragon 636 SOC with Adreno 509 GPU handling the graphics. It comes in both 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage and a 6 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage, with an option to expand the storage up to 128 GB using a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9.6 on top.
Cameras
As for the cameras themselves, the Redmi Note 6 Pro uses a similar dual camera setup on the back, as the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The primary shooter has a 12 MP sensor with 1.4um pixels attached to a f/1.9 lens on top, with support for Dual PD Focus and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). The secondary 5 MP camera captures the depth information for portraits. Although the cameras seem virtually the same as the ones on the Note 5 Pro, they do come with AI scene recognition as well as AI portrait.
On the front, the phone comes with not just one, but two cameras, of which, the 20 MP camera acts as the main camera, while the 2 MP camera is used for depth information portrait shots. The primary 20 MP selfie camera uses a Sony IMX376 sensor with large 1.8um pixels that sits behind a f/2.0 lens.
Miscellaneous
Fueling the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is a sizeable 4000 mAh unit, which might support fast charging, given it’s predecessor, the Note 5 Pro had support for it. For connectivity, the phone comes with 4G VoLTE, 802.11ac Dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with GLONASS.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and as well as AI Face Unlock out of the box, for securing your smartphone. Also, don’t get fooled by the notch, as the facial unlock offered on the device is just the basic one which uses only the camera no other fancy IR tech, for unlocking. While there is an IR sensor, it resides on the top and offers quick remote functionalities.
Pricing and Availability of Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro comes in Black, Blue, and Rose Gold colors. Priced at 6,900 Thai Bhat (USD 213/ INR 15,469) for the 4 GB RAM variant, the Note 6 Pro is going to be available at the ongoing Thailand Mobile Expo and Lazada.
Additionally, upon pre-ordering the Redmi Note 6 Pro at Lazada.co.th, buyers also receive a Mi Band 2, while buyers receive either a Mi Wi-Fi Repeater or a Mi Selfie Stick, upon pre-ordering it at the Mobile Expo 2018, in Thailand, for free.
