Xiaomi has announced the Redmi Note 4 smartphone in its home country, i.e. China, and the phone comes packed with several specs that are similar to its predecessor, i.e. the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. The newly announced device has a full metal body and it looks quite similar to the Redmi Note 3, except that the antenna bands are wider and prominent, and the speakers are moved from the back to the bottom of the device. Also, it is a brushed metal body that has chamfered edges on the sides.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has a 5.5-inch Full HD resolution display along with the 2.5D curved glass on the sides. The processor that powers the phone is the MediaTek Helio X20 chip, which is a deca-core CPU and it gets support by either 2GB or 3GB of RAM. The two variants that differ by the RAM capacity also have different storage capacities, having 16GB and 64GB internal storage respectively. The storage can be further expanded by using a MicroSD card, which can be placed in the second SIM slot if you wish to compromise your second SIM slot for extra storage.
The phone runs Android Marshmallow OS based MIUI v8, the latest MIUI version from Xiaomi that was recently released. The camera on the back of the device is a 13-megapixel shooter that has Phase Detection Autofocus support and a Dual tone LED flash is also provided, while on the front is a 5-megapixel selfie shooter with the F/2.0 aperture and 85-degree wide angle lens. The Redmi Note 4, just like its predecessor, has a fingerprint scanner on the back.
As for the connectivity, the phone comes with all the standard connectivity options and there is 4G LTE as well with the support for Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE). On the top of the device, there is an infrared sensor. The device has a 4100 mAh battery.

While the color options are Silver, Gold, and Grey, the phone is priced at 899 Yuan (around Rs. 9000) for the 2GB RAM variant and the one with 3GB RAM comes with the price of 1199 Yuan (around Rs. 12000). Unlike how the Redmi 3s is available in India with one variant having a fingerprint scanner, the Redmi Note 4 has the scanner on both the variants. The availability is from 26th August. For the other markets, there is no information for now, and in India, we might see a variant powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset but that won’t happen anytime soon as the Redmi Note 3 is still a hot selling product here.
