Xiaomi has been teasing about a new product launch since the last couple of days or so, and yesterday the company officially confirmed that it would indeed be a Redmi smartphone and it might be the Redmi 4A. Xiaomi’s VP and India Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain as tweeted saying that apart from the new Redmi device, the company would also announce a major milestone in its India journey which is a mystery at the moment.
The Redmi 4 series is a significant upgrade to the Redmi 3 that was announced in China back in November. It is the Xiaomi’s entry-level smartphone that sports a 5-inches HD display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage with a microSD card slot. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI on top.
Moving onto the camera department, the Redmi 4A packs a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, hybrid Dual SIM, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and microUSB port. The Redmi 4A comes packed with a 3120 mAh battery.
The Redmi 4, on the other hand, comes in two variants; the standard and the pro. The standard and the Pro version sport the same 5-inch 720p HD display. The standard Redmi 4 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage, while the Pro variant comes powered with the Snapdragon 625 processor supported by 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. Both these run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box.
The camera combination is also same on the both, a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The Pro variant comes with a fingerprint sensor and packs a massive 4100 mAh battery that has the fast charging support.
