The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has launched a new variant of the Redmi 2A in their hometown China, the device will be coming with an improved RAM of 2GB and internal storage of 16GB. The device will go up for sale in China from Tuesday.
The Redmi 2A 2GB variant comes with a 4.7-inch HD IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1080 pixels, the pixel density is 312 ppi. The Redmi 2A is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Leadcore (L1860C) Cortex-A7 processor. It is supported by 2GB of RAM which is an upgrade from the Redmi 2A variant and it comes with 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB using microSD card.
The Redmi 2A sports an 8MP rear camera with f/2.2 lens and LED flash along with a 2MP front-facing camera. The device is powered by 2200mAh battery and is said to support fast charging as well. It supports 4G LTE with support for Tdd-LTE bands 38,39,40 and 41. It comes with other connectivity features like Wi-Fi 802.b/g/n along with Direct and wireless display functionality and GPS/A-GPS.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed the pricing of the new variant of the Redmi 2A on his Weibo account as CNY 549 which is approximately Rs. 5,700. The price for a 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage along with 4G LTE support is a great deal. Last month, Xiaomi had introduced a variant of Redmi 2 called the Redmi 2 Prime with a tag of “Made in India” smartphone with production at Foxconn facility in Sri City.
