While Xiaomi had made a beautiful smartphone last year with the bezel-less display, the Mi Mix, there were a lot of expectations with the successor that is now official – the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2! Along with that was also the Mi Notebook Pro launched with a newer cooling solution and the Core i7 processor, and the Mi Note 3 is also made official.
As for the display to begin with, it is a 5.9-inch 18:9 IPS LCD display with the resolution of 2160 x 1080 (403ppi) pixels. Looks quite common with that aspect ratio, right? There’s more to it. This is actually a true bezel-less phone from the company that boasts a beautiful design and that front has only the bottom chin while only a thin line goes across the other three sides, giving a maximum area to the display. Jointly designed with world-renowned designer Philippe Starck, Mi MIX 2 has a ceramic back, which features a four-sided curved design that transitions smoothly into the aluminum frame.
Internally, the Mi Mix 2 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and along with that is 6GB of RAM and a special edition with the ceramic unibody design has 8GB of RAM. There are three variants having storage options of 64GB/128GB/256GB UFS 2.1 flash storage and the special edition has 128GB storage. This time, the company has made it clear that the cameras do matter and thus the Mi Mix 2 has a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX 386 sensor with F/2.0 aperture and the four-axis OIS, two tone flash and Phase detection autofocus. On the front is a 5-megapixel camera towards the bottom.
Xiaomi also boasted of having a wide network support with 43 bands supported. The smartphone has a 3400 mAh battery and there is Quick Charge 3.0 support with the USB Type-C connectivity. There is a Dual SIM support with the dual-nano SIM slot and the Mi Mix 2 has a fingerprint sensor on the back. The dimensions are 151.8 x 75.5 x 7.7mm and the device weighs 185 grams. The special edition does differ with the dimensions at 150.5 x 74.6 x 7.7mm and it weighs 187 grams.
