Xiaomi has officially launched their largest phablet, the Xiaomi Mi Max, which comes with a giant 6.44-inch display. At the event held in China National Convention Center today, Xiaomi made the announcement alongside the unveiling of the new MIUI version, the MIUI v8.
The device with a rather large screen has looks similar to that of the Redmi Note 3 with a metal body, though there is a 2.5D glass on the front and it also is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 / 650 processor, the same chipset that powers and does very well with the performance of the Redmi Note 3. The Snapdragon 650 is a hexa-core chipset along with Adreno 510 GPU, and the storage included is 128GB with a hefty 4GB RAM. There are variants with 32GB and 64GB internal storage as well, and they have 3GB of RAM. There is also a hybrid card slot for the storage expansion.

The Mi Max has a 16-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel camera on the front, with 85-degree wide angle lens. There is an IR blaster included as well.
One of the specials in this phone, which won’t be an exclusive for it, though, is the MIUI 8 version, which has a lot of new features introduced, and the Mi Max also supports one-handed operation, suspension ball for quick functions, and the new security features.
For the connectivity, there is 4G LTE along with VoLTE support and the other options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, and GPS. The Mi Max has a 4500 mAh battery packed in, and the company claims that it will easily deliver more than a day’s usage on a single charge. The device has a fingerprint sensor on the back, similar in position to the one on the Redmi Note 3. Another very good feature in the Mi Max is the inclusion of 4850 mAh battery, and with the inclusion of the new power saving features, it can well last for over a day.
The dimensions are 173.1 x 88.3 x 7.5mm and the phablet weighs 203 gm. It was worth a notice that despite the larger size, the Mi Max is 11 gm heavier than the Apple iPhone 6s Plus.
