Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi Mi A2 and the Mi A2 Lite smartphones at an event held in Berlin. The successor to the Xiaomi Mi A1 comes with a Lite version as well, and the phones retain the Android One branding and the Mi A2 is the global variant of the Mi 6X, having stock Android and the Android One project in tow.
Xiaomi Mi A2
The Xiaomi Mi A2 comes with a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display having the 18:9 aspect ratio and the 2160 x 1080 pixels of screen resolution. Internally, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core chipset and there is stock Android with Android 8.1 version, and the Android P update is guaranteed and this could be one of the early devices to receive that update. The storage varies from 32GB to 128GB and there are variants having either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and the storage can be further expanded using a MicroSD card. The phone lacks a headphone jack.
As for the cameras, the smartphone has a dual-lens camera combination on the back with a 12MP F/1.75 camera along with a 20MP F/1.75 camera for the depth sensing. To add to that, the front of the device has a 20MP camera and the portrait mode is given for both the cameras. The Mi A2 comes with a fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port, and dual VoLTE, IR blaster on the top, and there is a 3010 mAh battery supporting Quick Charge 3.0 technology.
Following are the variants and pricing of the Mi A2.
- 4GB RAM + 32GB storage: 249 Euros
- 4GB RAM + 64GB storage: 279 Euros
- 6GB RAM + 128GB storage: 349 Euros
The phone would be available in Gold, Black, and Blue options. The Xiaomi Mi A2 will be available in Spain from 10th of August, while there is not much known about the global availability.
Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite
This is a smaller Mi A2 but there are some differences here, as the Mi A2 Lite brings that notch on the top of the display that is not present on the Mi A2. The Lite has a 5.84-inch display with the Full HD+ resolution and the 19:9 aspect ratio. The Mi A2 comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 that has been a prominent one used by the company on several of its phones, thanks to the performance it offers.
As for the cameras, there is a combination of 12MP + 5MP cameras, the secondary one being used for depth sensing. The selfies can be taken with a 5MP camera on the front of the device. The battery here is a larger one, with the Xiaomi Mi A2 carrying a 4000 mAh battery and a MicroUSB port is offered here, and there is no such fast charging support.
The variants here are 3GB + 32GB and 3GB + 64GB. The price of the base variant is 179 Euros while the 64GB storage variant is priced at 229 Euros. It will go on sale in Spain at the same time of the release of the Mi A2.
The sheets for availability shared by the company excludes “India” from the list of markets where the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite will launch.
