TCL Corporation, the Chinese multinational electronics brand (who is also the parent company of the Alcatel OneTouch smartphone brand) is said to be working to bring a new smartphone into the Indian market, and according to our internal sources, it will come with eye-biometric (retina-based) verification feature.
Last year, the company had launched the first smartphone in India having an Iris scanner – the TCL Pride T500L, which was exclusively sold on Snapdeal and then was discontinued. The new device is said to launching globally and too little is known about the device specifications. We could get a few pictures of the phone, and will be updating as soon as we find more details.
According to the sources, the phone could have a 5.5-inch display with HD resolution (the pictures too suggest of a similar size) and alongside that, it could be a 1.1GHz quad-core chipset.
The launch of the phone is expected to happen in the first week of July and the company will be betting on Iris recognition as the main USP.
Not much is known for now apart from that, so stay tuned for more details.
