The Galaxy J2 was in the news recently after a leaked imaged revealed the smartphone sporting the Smart Glow notification ring around the camera which made everyone notice the rather ordinary smartphone. It is the successor to the last years J2 and now according to VentureBeat the specifications of the Galaxy J2 (2016) have been revealed by “Someone who was briefed on the phone’s features and specifications”.
According to VentureBeat, the new Galaxy J2 (2016) along with the Smart Glow notification ring around the camera has got a lot of things going for it in terms of upgrades from its predecessor. It is rumored to sport a better 4.7-inch HD 720p AMOLED display in comparison to the qHD display in its predecessor. The performance also sees a bump with the 1.3GHz quad-core chipset being upgraded to a 1.5GHz quad-core chipset.
The RAM has also got a boost from 1GB to 1.5GB in the new model with the internal storage being the same at 8GB having expandable storage option with microSD card slot. We can see that the camera has been upgraded as well with the J2 2016 coming with an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing shooter which is a decent upgrade from last years 5MP rear and 2MP front facing camera.
The Battery has also seen an upgrade with a 2,600mAh battery to power the improved device in comparison to 2000mah from last year. Lastly, how can we miss the most important feature of the J2 2016, the smart glow notification around the rear camera which is the first of its kind from Samsung and we can expect this to be used in their upcoming smartphones as well in the future.
The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) is expected to launched early next week and will be priced around the $150 mark. The availability of the device is what needs to be seen as the earlier model has limited availability in regions.
