Sony‘s smartphones have been quite famous with the Stamina mode, which is said to increase the battery life by a lot, and is very handy when the user wants to get a few extra hours of usage while compromising on the performance of the device. The Stamina mode kills all the background processes, turns off sync and stops almost anything that might be draining the battery excessively.
It might be quite similar to the power saving modes given in other Android smartphones, but Sony has optimized it in a better way, and we could vouch for its Stamina mode for how it works. According to one of the recent tips, Sony is working to bring even more improvements to the Stamina Mode of its flagship Xperia Z5, and that will be seen in the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
Stamina mode basically turns your phone into a feature phone, since you are limited to calling, messaging, setting up alarms and use the calendar app. Anything else would need you to turn off the Stamina mode. Even so, this is a useful feature, and improvement in that is just going to make things better.
How better will this get, only time will tell. But the same update that you see on the Xperia Z5, will be there even on the Z5 Premium and Z5 Compact. While there is a good 2900 mAh battery packed into the Z5, the Premium has a 3430 mAh one and the Z5 Compact comes with a 2700 mAh battery.
Will be a lot interesting to see if similar changes will be brought to the other phones for which Sony is promising the Android 6.0 update. What if Sony is working to bring something on the lines of Android’s Doze feature together with Stamina mode? Remember, the Doze feature was introduced in Android Marshmallow, so it shouldn’t be a surprise if they are merged to make things better.
