In a recent announcement at the Mobile World Congress, Sony has showcased the new line of Xperia smartphones including their flagship, the Xperia 1, Xperia 10 and the Xperia 10 Plus that come in as mid-range devices. The major eye-grabber in the smartphone is the longer display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The Xperia also comes with a 4K OLED display which makes it the first in the world to have such high resolution on an OLED smartphone display. While every manufacturer is trying hard to cut down the bezels and make the display as seamless as possible, Sony has gone the other direction and retained a large bezel on the top while the bottom bezel is still pretty thin.
Sony Xperia 1
The Sony Xperia 1 comes with a massive 6.5-inch display with a 4K resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio. The display comes with support for HDR OLED CinemaWide format and is protected against breaks and scratches by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset and has 6GB of RAM. The Sony Xperia 1 is an entertainment-oriented device with a dedicated Game Enhancement mode, the device also comes with Dolby Atmos for a multi-dimensional audio experience.
The rear camera is a triple-camera setup on the device with a primary 12MP sensor, a wide-angle 12MP sensor, and a third 12MP sensor. The front camera is a 8MP sensor with a 84-degree wide angle lens. The battery on the device is of 3,300mAh capacity which does raise a few concerns given the display size and resolution.
Sony Xperia 10
The Sony Xperia 10 comes with a smaller 6-inch display with a FullHD+ resolution, the aspect ratio on the device is again 21:9. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset and has 3GB of RAM along with 64GB internal storage. The rear camera is a dual camera setup with a primary 13MP sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor, the front camera is based on an 8MP sensor.
Sony Xperia 10 Plus
The Sony Xperia 10 Plus comes with a 6.5-inch display but has a FullHD+ resolution with an aspect ratio of 21:9, the display protection is offered by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor and has 4GB RAM along with 64GB internal storage. The rear camera is a dual camera setup with a 12MP primary camera and an 8MP telephoto lens, the front camera uses a single 8MP wide angle lens.
Sony Xperia X1 looks an killer premium flagship with powerful spec’s onboard with new 21:9 aspect ratio while X10 and X10 plus has large displays but poor SoC (SD630/636) compared to competition and all are too expensive as usual i guess.
