We’ve reached that point of time where we have all the details that are to know about the Galaxy S8 prior its release date and apparently a smartphone of this stature is bound to fall in the rumor mill and leaks. Here’s the list of full details we have gathered over the past few weeks.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to come in two different variants just like the Galaxy S7 line-up, though this is not the information coming in from Samsung. But something that we’ve heard since the past weeks. The Galaxy S7 had a bigger brother in the form of the Galaxy S7 edge, but this time around the standard variant will feature the Edge display thus eliminating the edge from the naming convention with the bigger variant.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Specs: Moving along, the Galaxy S8 is expected to sport a 5.8-inches Super AMOLED Quad HD display with curved edges that comes with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Samsung’s own Exynos 10-nm SoC (dependent on region). It packs 4GB RAM and 64/256GB storage variants with a slot for microSD. It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with TouchWiz interface. In the camera department, the device is expected to pack a 16-megapixel+8-megapixel dual rear cameras setup with f/1.7 lens, 4K video recording and, dual-LED flash and on the front, an 8-megapixel shooter is on board for your selfies and video calls. It has a Fingerprint sensor, wireless charging, USB-C.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Bigger Variant: There is also a bigger variant of the Galaxy S8, that sports a 6.8-inches Super AMOLED Quad HD display with curved edges on left and right sides and Corning Gorilla glass protection. Just like the base model, this one is also powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Samsung’s own Exynos 10-nm SoC (dependent on region). It packs 4GB RAM and 64/256GB storage variants with a slot for microSD. The bigger model also runs on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. Talking about the camera, the Galaxy S8 will feature a dual rear camera setup with 16-megapixel+8-megapixel(wide) camera with f/1.7 optics, 4K video recording abilities, dual-LED flash and on the front, it has an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens for selfies and video calls. This one also has a Fingerprint sensor and no physical home button.
Both these model will have the 3.5mm audio jack that went missing on the latest iPhone 7 duo.
Bixby and DeX: The Samsung Galaxy S8 will come with a dedicated hardware button on their sides. This hardware button will fire up the Bixby-Samsung’s new attempt at a virtual assistant to take on the likes of Apple’s Siri and will most probably replace the Google’s Assistant. Nothing much about the Samsung’s new virtual assistant is known at this moment. DeX is a Desktop PC branding of Samsung that will give PC sort of experience with the Galaxy smartphone as hardware. The Galaxy S8 will mostly be able to offer a basic desktop experience that might be closer to a Chrome OS type on the go OS rather than a full-time Windows or OS X experience.
Pricing and Launch Date: Though there is no precise info regarding the pricing, except for the speculation that it will be 100 euros higher than the Galaxy S7 in Europe while the rest of the World’s pricing is yet to reveal. The company is aiming to launch the Galaxy S8 in April; April 21st to be precise skipping the MWC announcement which Samsung’s chooses every year.
Very precise information, it it’s all true! 🙂
