There have been on and off rumors about Samsung looking into a new Notification LED for their future smartphones in the form of an LED being places all around the camera module which will light up when you get a notification. It was earlier spotted in the Galaxy J2 drawings leaked earlier, but SamMobile has now leaked a press render image of the Galaxy J2, which is now getting a lot of attention not because of its specs but for the Smart Glow Notification light around the camera.
What we were expecting was a thin line of LED around the Camera module, but this looks more like a huge strip all around the camera giving it a pretty awkward appearance. There might me other practical uses to it as well but from the design perspective, it is not appealing.
The Smart Glow Notification works like the earlier Notification light, glows up whenever you get a notification and I am expecting it to be customizable in the sense of changing colors and user getting the option to choose them. Based on some reports which revealed some of its options like Priority alerts and Usage alerts.
Priority alerts will allow the user to set certain colors to certain contacts, to help in identifying when you get a call, message, or email from these contacts. Whereas Usage alerts are for stuff like storage, data and battery which can be used to inform the user when any of the three are low.
The Galaxy J2 comes with specifications like 5-inch HD display and powered by Spreadtrum SC8830 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage. It is expected to sport an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel selfie camera, and 4G LTE connectivity with a dual-SIM option. It is expected to run on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 wrapped under TouchWiz UI. The Smart Glow Notification feature is expected to be seen in the upcoming Galaxy S8 as well.
How much it’d cost?
I’m not sure abt Samsung’s smart glow notification but i’ d like the colored led notifications .. may be like in OP3.
