Reliance Retail is soon entering the smartphone market in India, and the smartphones are expected to go sale alongside the company’s Jio 4G network rollout. While the Jio 4G network is open for its employees, we expect that to be available for public anytime soon, and thus, the devices will be not far from getting official.
The first smartphone from the company would be under the brand name LYF, and the device will be called Earth 1, so that won’t be the only phone in that series. IBNlive has detailed all the specs of the phone, and YouTube already has a couple videos showing off the device. So, here’s all about the upcoming Reliance LYF Earth 1 smartphone.
We also get to know about the Reliance Jio Lyf Water series phones, as they get listed on the official website of the company.
The Earth 1 will come with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, and under the hood is the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor along with Adreno 405 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The device will have 32GB internal storage, and a MicroSD card slot is also available for storage expansion. The device is said to be coming with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.
No surprises about the network support, as the LYF Earth 1 is going to have 4G LTE support with FDD bands 3/5 and TDD band 40. Interestingly, the camera combination might be the talk of the town as there will be a Dual camera on the back, with a 13MP and a 2MP sensor, while, on the front, a 5-megapixel camera is going to be packed in. The dual camera will be for the depth sensing, where the 13MP sensor will take the normal capture and the 2MP one will sense the depth of field, so as to help get a perfect blur.
A 3500 mAh battery will power the phone, and it is going to be a Dual SIM smartphone. So far, the specs are well leaked but nothing is known about the price of the device. Given how much we are hearing about the pricing of Reliance Jio 4G services, the phone should also be priced aggressively.
We’ll update it here whenever we get to know more details about the LYF brand or the Earth 1 smartphone.
I wonder how it s price and performance is compared to the soon to be release xiaomi note 3 pro
Xiaomi is a better-known brand when it comes to hardware and software, so I’d be more inclined towards it.
