Nokia, now Microsoft Mobile, has seen just a downfall since a good time. If Blackberry was chasing a brand, it would be Nokia. But not a positive side. The sales have been dipping, and the company is forced to bring the price down of its current devices, only because of the reduced demands. Even though the software in Blackberry phones isn’t as bad, it is still a failure, since the market is rightly obsessed about Android and iOS.
All this could change very soon, and it has been an exciting phase for us ever since Blackberry announced its plans about the upcoming “Priv” smartphone. Why? it is going to run Android OS.
Check: Blackberry PRIV Specifications
I’d always choose Android over anything else, and I’ve used Blackberry 10 OS for a brief amount of time, and that comes no where close to the former, thanks to the possibility of customization and the availability of apps in almost every segment.
I remember HTC Dream, though I had to settle with the Samsung Galaxy S as my first Android phone, since the Dream had limited availability options. May be the companies have got it right, and know that there is no great value to phones having a physical keyboard. But I am someone who’d still prefer to have that keyboard whose tactile response makes it really easy to type. No, that doesn’t mean I’d be typing in the fastest speed – since keyboard trails / swype have taken care that stuff pretty well.
Blackberry and Microsoft, both were doing their best to allow Android apps to run in their OS, but the experience isn’t the same, since a user doesn’t settle only for apps. There is a lot involved – interface, options, compatibility, and finally the apps.
Whatever the price, and I’d safely say, Blackberry won’t be any aggressive with the pricing, I would still love to give the Priv a try, since this isn’t the same Blackberry which offered basic specs to give users a taste of Blackberry OS, majorly for office use. From what it looks like, the Priv is going to pack heavy specs, and will run Android OS out-of-the-box, no strings attached.
What makes it really interesting, is the way one would be able to take advantage of its physical keyboard, since the company says that the features of Blackberry Passport’s keyboard will be brought into Priv.
But are we expecting too much from a brand that has seen the dark in the recent times? That exactly is the reason why I am expecting good from Blackberry. And it is only this time that I’m seeing it as a great combination of a great hardware, successful software, and a security integration that everyone might just praise.
Let’s hope Blackberry doesn’t disappoint, and there is something coming, which inspires others as well. Bring it on, Blackberry.
So is there any release date out for Blackberry Priv??
