Oppo has officially announced the launch date of their latest devices the Oppo R9 and Oppo R9 Plus, the launch event is scheduled on March 17th to be held in China. There have been many leaks about the Oppo R9 and R9 Plus from quite some time and the phones were spotted on TENAA listing as well. The Oppo R9 sports a 5.5-inch display and the R9 Plus sports an even bigger 6-inch display taking it into the Phablet category, both have Full HD resolution displays.
Both the devices sport similar specifications and design apart from the size of the display and the battery capacity. Both run on Octa-core SoC with 4GB of RAM and expandable memory up to 128GB using microSD card. Both the devices come with a Fingerprint sensor located on the Home button below the display.
The Oppo R9 and R9 Plus both run o Color OS based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and comes with Hybrid Dual SIM. It comes with 16MP camera on the front and back of the device with the rear camera having LED flash. The connectivity features of both the devices – 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual-band), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS. The battery capacity of the Oppo R9 is 2850mAh and the Oppo R9 Plus comes with a 4120mAh battery. Both the devices come with VOOC Rapid charge, it is not the latest VOCC Super Flash Charge announced in MWC 2016 which is said to fully charge a smartphone in just 15 minutes.
The Oppo R9 and R9 Plus launch event will happen in Beijing Performing Arts Center, Beijing on March 17th at 3PM China Time which is approximately 12.30PM Indian Time.
