After making rounds on the internet for quite a while now, the Chinese smartphone maker Oppo‘s latest mid-range offering, the Oppo A5, was finally unveiled today, in China. The new A-series smartphone comes with a 19:9 notched display and a massive battery.

The Oppo A5 sports a 6.2-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen, with a resolution of 1520×720 pixels. A 2.5D curved glass covers the 19:9 display which has an 87.8% screen-to-body ratio. Powering the phone is the Snapdragon 450 chipset with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, expandable up to 256 GB via the microSD card. The phone runs on Color OS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
As for the cameras, the A5 features a dual camera setup on the back, with a 13 MP primary camera which has f/2.2 aperture and a secondary depth-sensing camera which sits behind a f/2.4 lens. To the front, the phone greets you with an 8 MP selfie shooter which has an aperture of f/2.2. The selfie camera comes with AI Beauty feature, which can recognize up to 296 facial points.
The Oppo A5 comes with a massive 4320 mAh battery which is claimed to provide up to 14 hours of video playback and 11 hours gaming. The phone has support for 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, and GLONASS. Oppo has used a nanoscale microcrystalline technology to create the textured design on the back. The phone doesn’t come with a fingerprint scanner.
Pricing and Availability of Oppo A5
The Oppo A5 comes in two color options – Mirror Blue and Mirror Pink. The pricing of the phone is CNY 1500 (USD 225/ INR 15,537) and is available for pre-order in China, while the sale starts from July 13th. As of now, there is no word on the availability of the smartphone in markets other than China.
