The OnePlus 3T is basically an OnePlus 3 with a slightly upgraded processor, a spectacular front camera, larger battery and bigger storage variant. The newly launched smartphone comes in a new Gunmetal avatar which replaces the graphite-colored version of its predecessor. The OnePlus 3T sports a starting price of $439 USD (Rs. 29,799 approx.) which is $40 USD (Rs. 2,799 approx.) more than the $399 USD (Rs. 27,000 approx.) of original OnePlus 3. The brand new handset will go on sale in the US on November 22, 2016.
The latest flagship smartphone rocks the same 5.5-inch Full HD 1080p Optic AMOLED panel of its sibling. This is still covered with a 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass 4. Visually, the OnePlus 3T is entirely similar to the OnePlus 3 with the exact same physical dimensions, net weight, and anodized aluminum unibody. The brand new handset comes in two color options namely Gunmetal and Soft Gold. The OnePlus 3T ships with a company applied screen protector.
Inside the newly launched device sits the powerful Snapdragon 821 chipset. In the OnePlus 3T, the processor runs at its full potential reaching a peak clock speed of 2.35 GHz instead of being underclocked as in Google Pixel and Pixel XL. An overclocked Adreno 530 GPU handles the graphics department. Coming to memory, there is 6 GB of LPDDR4 RAM along with 64 GB or 128 GB of UFS 2.0 inbuilt storage.
A more optimized version of OxygenOS powers up the OnePlus 3T but sadly it is still based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. However, the company has assured that the Android 7.0 Nougat will arrive pretty soon. The fingerprint scanner is built right into the home button as in OnePlus 3. A notable upgrade on the newly launched phone is the larger 3400 mAh battery which is 13 percent more than its predecessor. This too supports OnePlus’ proprietary DASH charging technology and should bring significant improvement in the battery life.
Coming to the camera, the OnePlus 3T comes with the sane Sony IMX 298 powered 16 MP rear camera. This boasts OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) as well as EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) and can shoot 4K 2160p videos. One of the most interesting aspects of the newly launched smartphone is its selfie camera which features a whopping 16 MP resolution. The front snapper is built upon Samsung 3P8SP sensor and makes the latest handset one of the best selfie phones around.
Other things are basically similar to OnePlus 3. The OnePlus 3T sports the same Type C USB port, dual Nano SIM card slot, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, etc. The brand new smartphones costs $439 (Rs. 29,799 approx.) for the 6 GB / 64 GB variant and the 6 GB / 128 GB model rocks a price tag of $479 (Rs. 32,499) approx.). The OnePlus 3T will go on sale in the USA starting from November 22, 2016. There is still no info regarding the phone’s availability and pricing in India.
