Nokia plans on resurrecting its dead X-series with the launch of a new phone on May 16, called the Nokia X6. The new smartphone from Nokia will feature a notch on the top with thin chin at the bottom and 19:9 display in between the two. HMD Global, a Nokia brand licensee, has had a successful financial year in 2017 and might be planning on expanding its product portfolio as well as its sales, in 2018.
The news first surfaced through render leaks that were posted online. Rumors also suggested that the phone was supposed to be launched on April 27, which didn’t happen. Now, the news is confirmed by the company itself at an event at their Sanlitun experience store in Beijing, China. The event also gave away photos the yet to be released smartphone. The phone is set to be displayed from April 27th to May 6th, at the store.
The phone might either have a Snapdragon 636 processor or a Mediatek Helio P60 chipset. The screen is rumored to be of 5.8″ size with the 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone may also feature a Zeiss branded dual rear camera setup with dual-LED flash underneath which the fingerprint sensor is located. The phone sports a curvy design this time, unlike the previous Nokia phones, which had chamfered/ beveled edges. The pricing and availability of the device may be announced on the rumored 16th of May.
A couple of months back, Nokia had launched their new smartphones at the MWC 2018. The phones that were launched at MWC are Nokia 8 Sirrocco, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 2018, Nokia 8110 & Nokia 1. The Nokia 1 is an Android Go device, whereas the Nokia 8 Sirocco, 7 Plus, and 6 2018 edition come with Android One, which ensures faster updates. The Nokia 8110, on the other hand, is a feature phone from the past that has been given an entirely modern overhaul and is aimed towards the nostalgic nerds out there.
Will wait for the launch, thanks
